Heathrow has ordered extra chocolate eggs for its Easter Treasure Hunt as record passenger numbers are booked to fly over the Bank Holiday weekend.
Over 800,000 passengers will use Heathrow between 3 and 6 April, with 392,592 departing and 411,074 arriving at the airport. The figure shatters the previous record for the Easter period.
The weekend will see a 40% rise in the number of families with small children travelling through the airport. And the holiday officially starts for them at Heathrow where Easter entertainment and special offers will be in place:
- A digital treasure hunt - passengers will be able to download an App and have some fun before they fly. Once completed participants can visit the Information Desk to pick up a chocolate Easter Egg.
- Children can meet and have their photos taken with TV favourite Peppa Pig as she wishes them “bon-voyage” before they check-in.
- Families will be able to relax and enjoy their journey to the airport in style with kids travelling free on the Heathrow Express – the offer applies to children under 16 accompanied by a parent or guardian.
- Heathrow’s restaurants are also ready for the holiday season with special Kids Eat Free menus, high chairs and fun packs in every terminal.
- More staff, including 150 passenger ambassadors, will be in the terminals directing parents to dedicated family lanes in security and free play areas where kids can decorate their own Easter Eggs and bookmarkers in the departure lounges.
- Valet and Meet & Greet parking users will be treated to Cadbury’s Mini Eggs in the console of their cars when they return back to Heathrow from their trip, ensuring no one misses out on an Easter treat.
Normand Boivin, Director of Operations at Heathrow said:
“We’re really proud to see such huge numbers travelling through Heathrow this Easter. I wish all our passengers a good journey, which I hope will start with some of the entertainment we have in store at the airport.”
