British Airways, Heathrow, Leeds Bradford and Newcastle International airports have teamed up to give families a great holiday break.
The UK’s great North is set to become a hot destination for families this summer with kids being able to travel for free, thanks to British Airways, Heathrow, Leeds Bradford and Newcastle International airports.
Running from today until November 1, 2015, the airline is launching a ‘Kids Fly Free’ scheme from London Heathrow to both Leeds Bradford and Newcastle International airports, giving tourism a real boost in the region.
This offer is timed perfectly with the Rugby World Cup which also has event venues at Elland Road in Leeds and St James’ Park in Newcastle.
For families looking to continue to keep the costs down once they arrive, there are plenty of free things to do including:
Yorkshire -
- The Royal Armouries Museum
- Leeds City Museum
- Leeds Art Gallery/Henry Moore Institute
- Leeds Owl Trail
- City Beach at Millennium Square (August only)
North East England -
- Beamish Museum
- Durham Cathedral
- Alnwick Castle
- Stadium of Light
- Seven Stories – the National Centre for Children’s Books.
Andrew Crawley, British Airways’ chief commercial officer, said: “We know it can be a struggle to keep the kids entertained over the summer holidays and long car journeys can be difficult. So what quicker, easier or cheaper way to see a bit more of the UK, than to jump on a British Airways flight where the kids travel for free?”
John Holland-Kaye, Heathrow’s CEO said: “Heathrow is Britain's hub airport and we want to play our part to encourage visitors to explore the breadth and beauty of our whole nation. We are delighted to partner with British Airways, Leeds Bradford Airport and Newcastle Airport to boost tourism in the UK this summer.”
Families wanting to stay the night are also being offered a BA Holidays package including flights and accommodation at a range of hotels in Leeds with prices from £50 per night and Newcastle with prices from £46 per night.
The airline is also offering customers 20 per cent off Avis car hire when they book a flight and hotel together.
