Heathrow are offering passengers a free version of its newly launched pro app service for the next four weeks to provide passengers with the latest information and updates on the status of flights operating in and out of the airport.
Heathrow's first 'Airport Guide' application - a complete mobile advice service designed for anyone travelling to, from or through Heathrow - will enable passengers to plan their entire airport visit from the palm of their hand.
Heathrow has created two versions of the app: a free edition and a paid for premium pro version, which normally costs £1.79 but will be available to download at no cost until the end of May.
The free version helps passengers locate and book the most convenient method of transport to the airport, whilst providing up to the minute information on check-in procedures, airport news and terminal details. Once at the airport, the app provides detailed terminal maps, shop locations and even the latest retail offers, linked to directly from Heathrow's Twitter feed. The free version of the software will even provide tips on how to pack for your trip and advice to make your journey through security as smooth as possible.
The pro version includes all of the above features plus the ability to access detailed flight information updates and track flight progress. It also contains six months of scheduled flight timetables for every airline at Heathrow as well as five-day weather forecasts for over 220 global locations.
Says Stephen Glenfield, Online Development Manager for Heathrow, 'We want to make it easy for our passengers to use Heathrow and putting the airport into their hands does this. ”
The Heathrow Airport Guide app is available now on Apple iPhone and iPod touch, Vodafone 360, Google Android, and coming soon to Blackberry and Java-based smartphones. For further details visit www.heathrow.com/apps.
