Heathrow to serve a taste of Wimbledon

Heathrow is getting into the full swing of Wimbledon by serving the traditional tennis treat of strawberries and cream to arriving passengers from 21 June.

To mark the start of the iconic tennis tournament, thousands of British strawberries and lashings of Cornish clotted cream will be dished out across all Heathrow terminals by a team of airport usherettes clad in tennis whites.

Heathrow flies more people to and from the world’s biggest cities than any other UK airport. During the two weeks of Wimbledon a staggering three million people from around the world will be flying through Heathrow.

The initiative is part of Heathrow’s drive to provide passengers with an immediate taste of British sport and culture.

Malcolm Robertson of Heathrow said: “Passengers arriving at Heathrow will be left in no doubt that Wimbledon has arrived. We hope our exciting welcome to the UK puts a smile on their faces and leaves them as excited as we are to cheer on our tennis champions.”
