Heathrow Bears land in airport shops - and some lucky passengers can take one home for free

  • Passengers who share the same first name as either Doris or Edward Bair can claim a free bear when travelling from Heathrow on 25 March
  • The giveaway marks the retail launch of limited-edition Doris and Edward bears, available exclusively at Heathrow
  • The launch comes as Heathrow kicks off its 80th birthday celebrations, marking eight decades since the departure of its first commercial flight

Passengers travelling through Heathrow tomorrow could be in for a heartwarming surprise if their name happens to be Doris or Edward. Heathrow is bringing its much-loved bear duo, Doris and Edward Bair, to airport shelves for the first time - and passengers who share their names with the pair can claim one for free.

From 25 March, passengers will be able to buy their very own limited-edition Doris and Edward at World Duty Free and Glorious Britain stores across Heathrow, and via Reserve & Collect. But for one day only, some lucky passengers will be able to take home a complimentary cuddly companion to join them on their travels.

First introduced in Heathrow’s 2016 Christmas advert, Doris and Edward have captured hearts across the UK and beyond, becoming firm favourites with families and travellers. Their touching stories of love, family and reunion have made them two of the airport’s most recognisable characters, whose journeys celebrate the joy of travel and the excitement of setting off on new adventures with loved ones.

The retail launch follows the highly anticipated return of Doris and Edward in Heathrow’s latest marketing campaign, which aired in October 2025. The advert sees the bears exploring the airport together before preparing for their next trip abroad, capturing the playful and heartwarming moments that make travel special.

Heathrow Retail Director, Fraser Brown, said: “Bringing Doris and Edward Bair into our stores has been a real passion project for all of us at Heathrow. The response we have seen to each new chapter in their story has shown just how much passengers love them. As we celebrate 80 years of Heathrow connecting people and places, it feels like the perfect moment for them to join our passengers on new adventures.”

Heathrow already sells more than 82,000 teddies each year – an average of more than 220 per day. July and August see the highest number of toy and bear sales as passengers pick up special companions to take on their summer holidays. Popular choices include the Harrods bear, London-themed toys, and the ever-iconic Paddington Bear and his merchandise. The arrival of Doris and Edward marks the first time Heathrow’s cuddly characters will be available to take home, exclusively from Heathrow’s World Duty Free and Glorious Britain stores, and the airport’s Reserve & Collect service, for £27.99.

Passengers named Doris or Edward can pick up their free bear on 25 March whilst stocks last, by showing a valid passport or boarding pass at the information desk in the terminal they are departing from.
