A journey for the senses: Heathrow launches Whisky Social Club

  • Heathrow invites passengers to savour a world of flavour this May with the launch of its reimagined whisky festival, Whisky Social Club
  • The month-long celebration is an immersive experience dedicated to showcasing the craftsmanship, character and culture of whisky
  • Passengers can enjoy whisky-pairings specially curated by Miss Whisky, try new whisky-themed dishes and discover exclusive new products available only at the airport
  • This May, Heathrow is relaunching its annual whisky festival with a bold new twist. Introducing Whisky Social Club, an immersive experience celebrating the flavours and traditions of whisky.

In partnership with Avolta, Heathrow is rolling out the celebration across all four terminals, offering passengers a taste of something special. With Heathrow exclusives, limited-edition bottles and whisky-themed dishes curated especially for Whisky Social Club, the event highlights that duty-free pricing is only the beginning of what makes Heathrow’s whisky offering so unique.

Throughout May, passengers can experience a series of new, interactive events and pop-ups including:

  • Free whisky tastings and expert-led masterclasses – led by brand ambassadors from iconic names including Glen Moray, Bowmore, Tomintoul, Glen Scotia, Fable, Glenfiddich and Pernod Ricard
  • Miss Whisky’s Signature Food Pairings – indulge in perfectly matched pairings of chocolate or cheese with premium drams on four special dates, curated by whisky expert and content creator Alwynne Gwilt (aka Miss Whisky)
  • Live engraving stations – passengers can personalise a bottle of whisky for the perfect gift or memorable travel keepsake
  • Innovative tasting tech – simply lift a featured whisky bottle at a 'Lift & Learn' station in one of Heathrow’s departure lounges and watch tasting notes and brand stories appear on-screen

During Whisky Social Club, travellers will have exclusive access to travel retail-only releases available at Heathrow including Fable’s The Lighthouse, McArthur, Gulls and London Edition whiskies.

Perfect for foodies and flavour-seekers, Heathrow’s restaurants are joining the celebration with bespoke whisky-inspired dishes and cocktails available at participating restaurants throughout the terminals:

  • Big Smoke Taphouse & Kitchen, Terminal 2: Ribs & Wings with a spicy Monkey Shoulder whisky glaze (£28.45)
  • Shan Shui, Terminal 2: Wok-fried Whiskey Vermicelli Prawns (£15.95)
  • Caviar House & Prunier, Terminal 3: Scottish Smoked Salmon with Woodford Reserve (£27.95)

Fraser Brown, Retail Director at Heathrow, said: “Our vision for Whisky Social Club was to bring to life the timelessness and character of whisky for passengers travelling through Heathrow. This immersive experience showcases the best of British and global whiskies and invites passengers to discover something new, personal and flavourful, whether as a gift or a souvenir of their travels.”

Alwynne Gwilt, aka Miss Whisky, commented: “Whisky, like air travel, can take you on a journey around the world and offer a window into centuries of tradition. I’m proud to partner with Avolta and Heathrow to introduce travellers to unique flavour combinations that can only be unlocked through the signature food pairings I’ve curated for Whisky Social Club.”

As part of the celebration, Heathrow Rewards members can enjoy double points at participating restaurants from 1 May along with the chance to enter a Glen Moray prize draw, offering two tickets to the 2025 Senior Open Championship at Sunningdale this July.

No travel plans in May? No problem. Whisky Social Club can also be enjoyed from home with exclusive guides, tasting tips from Miss Whisky and prize competitions available at heathrow.com/whisky

Heathrow also offers a free Reserve & Collect service for a smooth airport shopping experience. Visit boutique.heathrow.com to explore brands across the airport and reserve your favourites for pickup before take-off.

To ensure everyone reaches their destination safely, Heathrow reminds passengers to always drink responsibly when travelling. Liquor purchased in World Duty Free stores should not be consumed in the airport.

About Heathrow

Heathrow is the UK’s international gateway and the largest airport in Europe – connecting to 234 destinations across 85 countries. The airport welcomes over 200,000 passengers on roughly 1,300 flights each day, and serves as Britain’s hub for trade, tourism and investment. Over 80,000 colleagues work at Heathrow – the airport directly employs about 10% of them, with the rest working for Team Heathrow partners including airlines, ground handlers and retailers.

About the One Too Many campaign

The One Too Many campaign is a cross-industry campaign led by the UK Travel Retail Forum (UKTRF), the Airport Operators Association (AOA), Airlines UK and the International Air Transport Association (IATA). It was launched in 2018 and promotes the personal and legal consequences of disruptive behaviour at airports.

The One Too Many campaign utilises a combination of in store signage (printed and on-screen), social media assets, media activation and industry awareness. Through its partners’ respective memberships, it is in place physically at most major UK airports.  The selected airports participating in the geofenced advertising campaign are Heathrow, Gatwick, Bristol and Belfast International.
