  • New role recognises importance to Heathrow of working with local communities to deliver Heathrow expansion
  • Rob Gray joins after 4 years working for community campaign group Back Heathrow

Heathrow has today announced the appointment of Rob Gray as Community and Stakeholder Relations Director for Heathrow.

This new position recognises the importance to Heathrow of working with local communities in delivering an expanded airport. Heathrow is committed to developing an airport that is quieter and cleaner and continues to provide opportunities for its neighbours and future generations.

Rob will develop the existing engagement activities with local stakeholders, building on the work that Nigel Milton, recently appointed as Heathrow’s Director of Communications, has been leading. Rob’s priority will be to ensure that stakeholders have the opportunities to help shape the airport’s expansion plans as they are further developed and then finalised over the next few years.

Rob brings first-hand experience of the area from his time running the community campaign group Back Heathrow. He joins Heathrow next month and will report to the Executive Director for Expansion, Emma Gilthorpe.

Rob Gray said:

“I have always been an advocate of Heathrow because of the huge opportunities it offers local residents. I also recognise local concerns and the need for Heathrow to deliver on the commitments it has made to mitigate the impacts of expansion.  Heathrow has demonstrated its willingness to listen and change its plans based on feedback. I’m looking forward to working with local communities to ensure our plans reflect their views.”

Emma Gilthorpe, Heathrow’s Executive Director for Expansion said:

“I am delighted that Rob will be joining the Heathrow team.  This is a vital new role as we progress our plans to deliver a better Heathrow for everyone. Rob has great energy and enthusiasm for the airport and importantly, he understands the value of working with our neighbours to align our priorities with theirs. I know he’s looking forward to getting out and meeting as many people as possible.”
