Iconic British retailer opens first airport store and bar with an exclusive blend of tea for passengers
Renowned food and drink retailer, Fortnum & Mason, has opened its first standalone airport store at Heathrow Terminal 5. The presence at the airport represents an important milestone for a brand that has been synonymous with world travel since 1707. From its earliest days Fortnum’s has supplied intrepid explorers in the furthest corners of the world with hampers full of home comforts. Now the retailer is in a position to connect with today’s modern global traveller at the world’s busiest port.
Fortnum & Mason at Heathrow Terminal 5 is a beautifully designed 1,000 square foot store, offering exceptional goods and impeccable service. It carries a selection of products from Fortnum’s flagship Piccadilly store, designed with the traveller in mind. There are Fortnum’s iconic hampers, as well as a range of its most popular teas and preserves (including jams, marmalades and honeys) and confectionery items. There is also a savory counter offering a selection of chilled products, including smoked salmon and caviar.
Famous for their range of fine teas, Fortnum’s has created a new blend exclusively for the Terminal 5 store. ‘Explorer’s Blend’ is a bold combination of contrasting flavours from the four corners’ of the tea world; Ceylon (Nuwara Eliya), Kenya, China (Green Jasmine) and India (Assam).
Following in early December, the stunning Fortnum & Mason Bar will open for business from first to last flight. Travellers will be able to sample delights from an exquisite range of fresh, seasonal food and drink, celebrating the very best of Fortnum’s famous Food Halls at Piccadilly. Charcuterie plates, hams, caviars and smoked salmon will all feature, alongside an extensive collection of the best wines and champagnes.
